ActionAid Association (AAA) is a national organization working in India in solidarity with the most marginalized communities to achieve a greater modicum of Social and Ecological Justice.

Working in India since 1972, AAA currently operates out of 12 Regional Offices, spread across 25 States and one Union Territory. A non-profit, AAA has been working with people, by building their agencies and solidarities at local, national and international levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Support grounded actions

  • Strengthen our grounded presence by strengthening local-geographical –issue-based initiatives and action.   
  • Promote and nurture community groups and help build membership-based organisations in consonance with ActionAid Association values and strategies
  • Building leadership among young people, men and women.
  • Broadening knowledge and support base of local groups by helping link them with other civil society groups, academicians, activists, networks, institutions.

 

Partnership Development and Support: 

  • Facilitate appraisals, reviews and planning and budgeting of projects/initiatives at the regional level towards achieving ActionAid Association strategy goals.
  • Ensure compliance to all reporting requirements (programmatic and financial) and attend to audit observations and ensure compliance.
  • Support and engagement with partners in collectively designing innovative, issue-based campaigns.

 

Policy and Campaigns 

  • Establishing linkages and partnerships with other civil society organisations, academic institutions and community alliances to further policy initiatives as may be undertaken at regional and national level.  
  • Support in building knowledge forums on critical issues for social action and highlight such issues through various medium including different media forums.
  • Support advocacy initiatives with local government bodies and their institutions.
  • Support campaign initiatives of the region as may be assigned by the Line Manager.
  • Building a volunteer base across rural and urban communities.
  • Deepen the communication and outreach through media linkages both print and electronic and help enhance visibility through social media initiatives.

 

Others

  • Support fund raising initiatives being carried out by the region by contributing through proposal writing, meeting donors etc.
  • Be responsible for any other emergent task that may be assigned by the line manager based on organizational requirements.

Skills and Competencies

·         Be a Post Graduate in Social Sciences/Social Work/Rural Development/ Management;

·          have at least 3 years’ experience of managing development projects, out of which minimum one year should have been with a grassroots development organization.

·          must possess comprehensive understanding of the region.

·          have basic knowledge of macro/micro development issues relating to India;

·          Knowledge of issue-based campaigns, experience in research work.

·          Exposure in debate/discussions on ideas of State, social movement, identities etc.

·          have experience of working with vulnerable groups of the society.

·          have good communication and project proposal writing skills.

·          Knowledge of local language is mandatory.

·          be a good team player, gender sensitive, having conviction and skills for the empowerment of the poor and disadvantaged groups;

·          have proficiency in all applications of MS Office, especially Word, Excel & Power Point.

·          be willing to travel.

Salary & Benefits

INR 5.50 Lakhs CTO (Cost to Organisation)per annum - this includes the PF contribution.

 

It also includes, other benefits-Group Medical Insurance with coverage of Staff & Dependents; Personal Accident Insurance of staff and Gratuity is payable as per the law and norms of the organisation.
