ActionAid Association (AAA) is a national organization and an affiliate of ActionAid International federation, a global movement of people working together to further human rights and committed to defeat poverty and injustice. Working in India since 1972, AAA currently operates out of 12 Regional Offices, spread across 25 States and one Union Territory. A non-profit, AAA has been working with people, by building their agencies and solidarities at local, national and international levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Programme Manager will play a significant role in ActionAid’s work in the regional office. S/he will be responsible for policy and campaigns in the region, networking and alliance building, fund raising, managing resources and training/ capacity building of people in the projects. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the incumbent will also be assisting the Regional Manager in matters relating to partnership management, statutory compliances including the audit follow-up etc.

Key Responsibilities include:-

 

Policy, Campaigns and Communications  

  • Work with the regional team to lead and support policy and research initiatives.
  • Help build and drive the ActionAid national campaign agendas in the region and support coordinated and synergised actions from local to regional to national level.
  • Help design campaign and media strategies to build the campaigns and publicize the issue through print and digital media.
  • Network with civil society groups, individuals, movements, academics and research institutions as may be needed to build campaign momentum.
  • Engage with key government bodies and institutions for policy and research agenda as may be identified from time to time by the organization.
  • Coordinate and support the research and studies that will be undertaken by the region 

 

Programmes, Partnerships and Compliances

  • Coordinating and supporting management of programmes being undertaken by the region and to ensure high quality programme delivery in line with the mission goals of ActionAid India.
  • Supporting and facilitating the Planning and Budgeting process, PRRP and other strategic exercises in the Region.
  • Exploring the feasibility of new partnerships to advance regions work in the state.
  • Ensure all project reporting requirements (partnership / fund raising project related etc.,) of the Regional Office.
  • Ensuring effective sponsorship communication through high quality reporting of newsletters, Child Messages etc., as per the timelines.
  • Support in driving on ground mobilisations and help build volunteer base to take forward the campaign agendas in the region. Support in training, capacity building and designing engagement programmes for volunteers. 

 

Resource Mobilisation  

  • Help in scoping of prospective donors, attend meetings and organise representations to support resource mobilisation efforts of the region.
  • Develop concept notes and proposals as may be required for donors
  • Attend to all donor compliances and ensure healthy donor relationships.

 

Any other responsibilities as assigned by the line manager.

Skills and Competencies

  • be a Post Graduate in Social Sciences/Social Work/Rural Development/ Management.
  • have at least 5 years experience of managing development projects.
  • have sound knowledge of macro/micro development issues relating to India.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) in Hindi & English;
  • Gender sensitive and strong conviction and skills for the empowerment of the poor and disadvantaged groups.
  • Excellent understanding of local/ regional level issues pertaining to marginalised social groups like Dalits, tribals, Muslims and others.
  • Should have good documentation skills and be proficient in basic computer applications like Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive travel

Salary & Benefits

Approx - INR 7.9 Lakhs CTO (Cost to Organisation)

 

(This is inclusive of contributions to PF and other benefits like  Group Medical Insurance with coverage of Staff & Dependents and gratuity . Personal Accident Insurance of staff and gratuity is payable as per law and norms of the organisation.)
