About the Organisation

ActionAid Association (AAA) is a national organization and an affiliate of ActionAid International federation, a global movement of people working together to further human rights and committed to defeat poverty and injustice,Working in India since 1972, AAA currently operates out of 12 Regional Offices, spread across 25 States and one Union Territory. A non-profit, AAA has been working with people, by building their agencies and solidarities at local, national and international levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Regional Manager will be responsible for building partnerships with social organizations to advance the work around rights and justice for poor and marginalized communities in line with ActionAid’s vision, mission and strategy.

Key Responsibilities will include:

 

Policy, Campaigns and Communications

  • S/he will engage in policy review and research at State level and will work with national actors including research and policy institutions, youth and media organizations, people’s organisations and other formations to lead on regions work.
  • Build, develop, lead and drive the ActionAid India national campaign agendas in the region.  Support building synergised actions from local to regional to national level as may be needed. Help design campaign and media strategies to build the campaign.
  • Network with civil society groups, movements, academics and research institutions as may be needed to build national momentums.
  • Build knowledge partnership with civil society groups, concerned individuals, academics and research institutions to create knowledge forums on issues of social action.

 

Programmes, Partnerships and Compliances

  • From a social and ecological perspective, support the local formations and facilitate the capacity building of the marginalized and excluded communities.
  • Support in mobilisations on the ground and help build volunteer base to take forward the campaign agendas in the region. Support in training, capacity building and designing engagement programmes for volunteers. 
  • Ensure quality delivery through all the programmes and partnerships being supported by the region in alignment with the values and mission goals of AAI. 
  • Ensure that all reporting requirements are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all statutory compliances as may be required in line with the law of the land.

 

Resource Mobilisation

  • Provide strategic support and guidance to Fundraising initiative in the region and help mobilise resources to advance the mission goals in the region.

 

Team Management

  • The incumbent will lead a team of colleagues enabling an environment for innovation and quality delivery towards achieving ActionAid Association/India’s strategic objectives as outlined in its Country Strategy Paper.

 

Others

  • As member of the leadership team, participate and contribute to all organisational processes and provide necessary inputs and support in furthering the mission of the organization.
  • Represent ActionAid India in external forums as may be needed.
  • Attending to any other tasks that may be assigned by the line manager from time to time.

Skills and Competencies

  • Have Post Graduate degree in Social Work/Social Sciences/Rural Development/Management or its equivalent.
  • Have minimum relevant professional experience of 8-10 years.
  • Preferably have an activist background;
  • Have experience in people’s policies and campaigning.
  • Possess strong leadership and administrative skills, proven capacity of leading a team of development professionals and liaising and building networks with Civil Society Organisations, NGOs, INGOs, Government and other agencies.
  • Should be gender and diversity sensitive and have conviction and skills for the empowerment of the marginalized and excluded social groups.
  • Have strong communication skills. Knowledge of regional/local language will be an added advantage.
  • Have strong drive, initiative and motivation, and be capable of inspiring, nurturing and motivating the team towards fulfilling organizational priorities.

Salary & Benefits

Approx - INR 12 Lakhs CTO (Cost to Organisation)per annum.

(This is inclusive of contributions to PF and other benefits like  Group Medical Insurance with coverage of Staff & Dependents and gratuity . Personal Accident Insurance of staff and gratuity is payable as per law and norms of the organisation.)
